Verna Lalbeharie is a Senior Program Director at the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation and coordinates the professional development work of the NC Learning Technology Initiative. She also serves as Co-PI for the Golden LEAF Foundation's Learning Technology Readiness Initiative and the SAS funded, Redesigned Schools 2.0 initiative. Prior to joining the Friday Institute in January 2008, Verna spent most of her career working on initiatives and research efforts that advance student success. Her work has focused on both secondary and post secondary education reform. She worked in an R&D capacity in the non-profit environment for eleven years, first at Jobs for the Future in Boston, MA and then at MDC, Inc. in Chapel Hill, NC. In both these positions, she worked on teams that managed large-scale, national, multi-component, and multi-year initiatives. Verna holds a BA in Psychology from College in Northampton, MA and a M. Emmy Coleman is a Research Associate and co-lead of the Digital Learning Collaborative at The William & Ida Friday Institute for Educational Innovation. She also serves as Co-PI for the Golden LEAF Readiness Initiative, Redesigned High School 2.0, and IMPACT-Continuation grant. Her primary responsibilities include managing and supporting coaching teams, strategic planning assistance for school and district leadership teams, and professional development opportunities for schools and districts participating in the North Carolina Learning Technology Initiative (NCLTI). Currently, she serves as the Principal Investigator for the Connected Online Communities of Practice project funded by the U.S. Department of Education, conducted in partnership with the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) and State Education Technology Directors Association (SETDA). Prior to joining the Friday Institute in November 2008, Emmy spent her career as a high school English teacher, curriculum specialist, administrator at both the school and district levels, and as founding director of a technology-enabled high school in rural North Carolina. Dr. Anthony Dove is a post doctoral associate at The William & Ida Friday Institute for Educational Innovation. Anthony received his BA in Mathematics and Minor in Secondary Education at the University of Richmond in 2000. He has taught one year of 8th grade mathematics and four years of high school mathematics in a 1:1 high school in Henrico County, Virginia. His passion for utilizing technology to enhance his instruction led Anthony to earn his M.ED. in Mathematics Education from the University of Virginia and his Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from North Carolina State University. Currently, Anthony works on many Digital Learning Collaborative projects and the SMART Classrooms Project providing face-to-face professional development for integrating various technologies into instructional practices. Anthony also teaches Statistics 151 at Wake Tech Community College in which he continues to use and refine the instructional practices that he teaches in his professional development workshops. Dr. Bobby Hobgood is a global educator, online learning specialist, and linguaphile. He managed the development of online language courses in Mandarin, Arabic, and Japanese for the North Carolina Virtual Public School. He has chaired the North Carolina Distance Learning Association Conference for the past three years, producing two virtual conferences with national sponsorship. Bobby speaks French and Spanish and uses his research interests in global education, technology integration, and intercultural competence to develop professional development workshops for K-12 education. Bobby is a Research Associate with the Digital Learning Collaborative where he leads the development of the epic-edonline community of practice devoting to supporting individuals, schools, and districts in digital transition.To contact him:behobgoo@ncsu.edu

Sophia Stone, Ed.D is a Research Associate at the Friday Institute and develops online professional development programs for educators. In this capacity she provides collaborative leadership in the design of virtual learning initiatives for online professional development delivered to educators practicing in technology-enabled environments. Sophia has experience leading distance learning programs delivered to educators and administrators, and has extensive experience in online teaching and online course development. In addition to her role at the Friday Institute, she serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Instructional Technology Program at NC State, teaching ECI 716: Design and Evaluation of Instructional Materials, a web-based instructional design course. Prior to joining the Friday Institute, Sophia was Assistant Director for Distance Learning, Duke University, and taught EAC 583: Needs Assessment & Task Analysis, for the Dept. of Leadership, Policy & Higher Education at NC State. Dr. Lisa Hervey, NBCT is a Research Associate at The William & Ida Friday Institute for Educational Innovation with experience as a public school teacher and Adjunct Professor at NC State. Her work focuses on the creation and facilitation of both face-to-face and online professional learning opportunities around K-12 digital conversion and the development of educators’ Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (TPACK). Currently, she designs and facilitates graduate level and professional development online courses for the College of Education at NC State and Digital Learning Collaborative, respectively. In addition, Lisa provides content support for a USED funded national online community of practice, epic-ed, that assists various stakeholders charged with planning and implementing technology-enabled learning initiatives in K-12 schools. Nancy Mangum is an Instructional Technologist working at the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation. Her role at the Friday Institute includes working with district leadership and principals across North Carolina to design and deliver training for educators as they work to create 21st century classrooms. Her specific interest is in ios devices and their role in our schools and have spent the last 2 years coaching teachers as they implement the devices in their classrooms. With over 12 years of experience as a classroom teacher, technology facilitator and district leader, Nancy is passionate about the work that she does! Her goal is to transform teaching practices by training educators to use web 2.0 tools and other technology and help them find their own passion for learning and teaching! Jaclyn Bell began her career in education after her successful work as a media consultant and award-winning media designer in New York. Extending two years beyond her initial contract with the Nation's Teach For America Program, Jaclyn transitioned to the classroom where she taught English I and Digital Media, as well as helped start a technology high school in its first two years of operation. While there she assisted in the establishment of a school wide 1:1 Project Based Learning platform and has earned 21st Century Certified Educator status through the nation's New Tech Foundation, sharing her experience and best practices with educators and state administrators in a number of workshops and lectures around the country. As the Digital Learning Collaborative Project Coordinator, Jaclyn continues to assist educators to incorporate technology and blended learning models into their curriculum. Brittany Burns is an online facilitator for the Digital Learning Collaborative who also fulfills multifarious needs of the institute. She recently graduated Cum Laude with her Masters in Instructional Technology from North Carolina State University. She has a BA in English Education from North Carolina State University, and an alumni of both the Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity and Golden Key International Honor Society. She holds a NC license in Secondary English Education, Middle Grades Language Arts, and Instructional Technology and has taught a range of high schools courses from a literacy elective to AP English III. She is an active editor for the Cool Tools for Schools wiki, and is currently developing her own YouTube channel featuring Web 2.0 tool tutorials for teachers. To contact her bpburns@ncsu.edu

Jonathan List is a graduate research assistant and doctoral student in the department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Counselor Education. Through his studies, Jonathan works to understand the relationship between technology and pedagogy. His current research focuses on using technology to support historical thinking, as well as to further the understanding of various parts of the historical thinking process. Jonathan graduated Cum Laude with a BA in History and he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a M.Ed, focus in Social Studies, both from Roberts Wesleyan College.
